Frequently Asked Questions

Accessing Zoom Classes

How do I access my online zoom class?

Prior to the class starting you will be sent a zoom link that will let you into the class. If you are accessing the class via a computer you can simply tap on the link and enter the provided class zoom access password when requested. If accesssing the class on a tablet or phone you will need to download the zoom app onto your device prior to clicking on the class zoom link I send you.

I can't seem to access the online zoom art class?

Please double check that you are entering the correct zoom password and that if you are on a mobile device you have downloaded the zoom app to your device prior to clicking on the link you received from me. If you are still having difficulty please call me and I will help you into the class. However, I would be grateful for the first couple of classes you attend that you try to come in early, a few minutes before the class starts so we can iron out any issues before I start teaching the group.

Are the online art classes easy to access?

If you haven't used zoom before and are unsure of what to do, please contact me and I will be happy to help you get set up. With new students I will often arrange to bring them into the zoom meeting a little earlier to help familiarize them with the set up and get them organized.

Payment

Can I pay for my class online?

After speaking to you and confirming your place in a class, I can send you an easy to use link to make payment via PayPal. Alternatively, if you do not have a PayPal ccount, you can contact me to pay by cheque. Please note that I do not accept postal orders for payment.

Can I pay per class?

No, I am afraid not. I previously tried a PAYG payment system but unfortunately it proved extremely problematic and unworkable.

If I miss a class can I get a refund for that class?

At the end of the class each student will be sent a link to access a recording of the class for them to watch at their leisure. The classes are presented in a follow along style so you should have no problem making up for the teaching you missed. If after watching the video you have any questions regarding the techniques demonstrated please get in touch or arrange to come into the following weeks class slightly early and I will help you resolve the issue you are experiencing with your artwork.

Booking a class

How do I book a place in an art class?

Simply contact me so I can get a feel for what you are looking for and help advise you of the best class for your needs.

I can't find an online booking form on this website?

There is intentionally no online booking portal on this site. The number of students is limited in each class so that I can give you the level of interaction and feedback you need to progress and enjoy the class. More importantly, I want to make sure that you end up in the right class for you, so you can get the most out of that class. I therefore like to speak to each new student before they book a place in a class in order to discuss the best path for them.

Materials

What materials do I need  to take part in a zoom drawing art class?

If you cannot source any of the following items, please let me know. I have a workaround for most things if required. For the adult drawing class you will need the following items: 1. Pencils, 2B, 4B and 6B 2. Eraser 3. Sharpner 4. Ruler 5. Fine point black pens: 0.4 & 0.6 mm 6. Charcoal 7. A4 Drawing cartridge paper, preferably 140gms

What materials do I need to take part in a zoom painting art class?

In the painting classes the materials required can vary depending on when you join the class. I don't want you spending any money unnecessarily so if you haven't painted before, please contact me for an up to date materials list. All of the materials and equipment used are easy to source and should be reasonable to purchase.

What materials does my child need to attend the online kids art class?

The following items are helpful to have, but if you have difficulty sourcing any of them please let me know and I can suggest an alternative; Pencil, 2B is preferrable (but not essential), an Eraser, Sharpner, Ruler, Glue stick or PVA, Twistables or colouring pencils, Sharpie fine point pen or fine point black marker, Paints, A4 paper and a paint brush. If you are unsure about anything please do contact me before you spend any money as the materials in a pencil case or around the home should do the job most of the time.

New students

Do I need previous experience to do a zoom art class?

In nearly all cases you do not need previous experience in painting and drawing to start taking part in the online art classes. If you are intending starting more than half way through a term and have no previous experience at all, I may suggest that you initially start on the Monday night refresher/beginner class. This will help you grow in confidence and help us both gauge where you are at and where you are looking to go. So please call or contact me if you are at all unsure.

Can I start after the term has started?

Yes. We normally complete an artwork or technique each week, or over two sessions. So the longest you will need to wait is two weeks before starting. Just contact me and I will let you know what suits.
