I can't seem to access the online zoom art class? Please double check that you are entering the correct zoom password and that if you are on a mobile device you have downloaded the zoom app to your device prior to clicking on the link you received from me. If you are still having difficulty please call me and I will help you into the class. However, I would be grateful for the first couple of classes you attend that you try to come in early, a few minutes before the class starts so we can iron out any issues before I start teaching the group.

Are the online art classes easy to access? If you haven't used zoom before and are unsure of what to do, please contact me and I will be happy to help you get set up. With new students I will often arrange to bring them into the zoom meeting a little earlier to help familiarize them with the set up and get them organized.

Can I pay for my class online? After speaking to you and confirming your place in a class, I can send you an easy to use link to make payment via PayPal. Alternatively, if you do not have a PayPal ccount, you can contact me to pay by cheque. Please note that I do not accept postal orders for payment.
-
Can I pay per class? No, I am afraid not. I previously tried a PAYG payment system but unfortunately it proved extremely problematic and unworkable.

If I miss a class can I get a refund for that class?Studio Classes: If you miss a studio based class unfortunately I am unable to refund that class. However, my policy is that a student who missed a class can make up for that by attending an alternative class on another day during that week, provided a space was available. Please note that while I will try to facilitate you as regards attending an alternative class, I cannot guarantee that a suitable opening will be available. Online Classes: At the end of the class each student will be sent a link to access a recording of the class for them to watch at their leisure. The classes are presented in a follow along style so you should have no problem making up for the teaching you missed. If after watching the video you have any questions regarding the techniques demonstrated please get in touch or arrange to come into the following weeks class slightly early and I will help you resolve the issue you are experiencing with your artwork.

How do I book a place in an art class?Simply contact me so I can get a feel for what you are looking for and help advise you of the best class for your needs.

I can't find an online booking form on this website? There is intentionally no online booking portal on this site. The number of students is limited in each class so that I can give you the level of interaction and feedback you need to progress and enjoy the class. More importantly, I want to make sure that you end up in the right class for you, so you can get the most out of that class. I therefore like to speak to each new student before they book a place in a class in order to discuss the best path for them.

What materials do I need to take part in a zoom drawing art class? If you cannot source any of the following items, please let me know. I have a workaround for most things if required. A4 Drawing cartridge paper, preferably 140gms

What materials do I need to take part in a painting class? In the painting classes the materials required can vary depending on when you join the class. I don't want you spending any money unnecessarily so if you haven't painted before, please contact me for an up to date materials list. All of the materials and equipment used are easy to source and should be reasonable to purchase.

What materials does my child need to attend the kids or teen art class? This varies depending on the class. Kids 1 (1st to 4th Class): In this class I provide nearly all of the materials. You may occasionally be required to bring in or purchase items, but I will notify you prior to the class, and thse will be easily and cheaply sourced. Kids 2 ( 5th and 6th Class): I provide the basics here, but many students find the following items are helpful to have. If you have difficulty sourcing any of them please let me know and I can suggest an alternative; Pencil, 2B is preferrable (but not essential), an Eraser, Sharpner, Ruler, Glue stick or PVA, Twistables or colouring pencils, Sharpie fine point pen or fine point black marker, Paints, A4 paper and a paint brush. Please ensure your childs name is on all items. If you are unsure about anything please do contact me before you spend any money as the materials in a pencil case or around the home should do the job most of the time. Teens: Again, most of the items required for this class are to be found in a pencil case. I also carry a large range of items that students may use to get them started. Please contact me before purchasing materials.

Do I need previous experience to attend an art class? In nearly all cases you do not need previous experience in painting and drawing to start taking part in an art class. Most of my classes contain art students of varying levels of experience. If you are intending starting more than half way through a term and have no previous experience at all, I may suggest that you initially start in a specific class with a higher ratio of beginners. This will help you grow in confidence and help us both gauge where you are at and where you are looking to go. So please call or contact me if you are at all unsure.
-
Can I start after the term has started?Yes. In the online zoom classes we normally complete an artwork or technique each week, or over two sessions. So the longest you will need to wait is two weeks before starting. Just contact me and I will let you know what suits. In the studio based classes you can start anytime, but again, please contact me to discuss the best option for you.

What else should I be aware of coming to a class for the first time?1. Art can be messy, so please wear suitable clothing for the art class you are attending. 2. Please arrive on time as it helps everyone settle in quicker and get more from the class. 3. Be aware of your fellow students creative space, both physically and in terms of their 'headspace'. I encourage students to learn to display their work as soon as they feel ready, but respectfully ask you leave that choice to them. 4. Please be aware that in the current covid preventative environment I need extra time to sanitise the space after each class. I would therefore be grateful if you could vacate the studio within 10 minutes of the scheduled class end time so that I can prepare for the next class. 5. Don't drop into a class that's not your regular class unless you have contacted me beforehand and I have confirmed a space is available. 6. I don't do refunds for missed classes or Pay As You Go, but if you miss a class I will try to help you make it up by attending an alternative class if a space becomes available. 7. Missed classes cannot be carried forward and made up for in a subsequent term or workshop. 8. I provide all the materials to help you get started as a new student, but once you feel happy in the direction you are taking I would be grateful if you could purchase your own materials going forward. This helps me keep down the cost of the classes and make them more accessible to all.

What covid-19 protocols are operating in the studio and classes?1) Please be respectful of those around you in the studio space, remain at your table and practice safe hygiene etiquette. 2) If you feel unwell, please do not attend your class and seek medical advice prior to returning to classes. 3) Due to covid safety protocols, I am required to be present at the reception to the building to receive students for evening classes. Can I therefore request that all evening class students be present to enter the building between 7.20 and 7.30pm. If you arrive after 7.30pm I will be required to leave the class and go out to reception to let you into the building.
